FTL stands for a " Full Truckload," which means you hire the entire shipment for your goods, whether your goods occupy the entire space in a semi-truck carrier or not.
LTL stands for " Less than truckload," which refers to the transportation of products or goods that do not require a full truckload. These smaller freight loads typically result in many separate shipments being transported on one truck.
FTL means " full truckload " and LTL means " less-than-truckload ". FTL is used when a shipment fills up a truck, and LTL is used when it won’t.
FCL means " Full Container Load " and the client's goods are transported in a filled and sealed container. LCL means " Less than Container Load “or grouped shipment: the client's goods are not numerous enough to fill a container, and the goods of several clients are put into one container.
It returns to road and sea freights. When we load on trucks, we use full truckloads (FTL) and less-than-truckloads (LTL). When we load on containers, we use Full container load (FCL) and less than container load (LCL) are simply the ocean container versions of the same concepts.
